introduction about wood industry

INTRODUCTION ABOUT WOOD INDUSTRY

The Faculty of Applied Science is one of the university’s core science and technology faculties. The faculties strive to continuously provide a dynamic environment that seeks to foster academic innovations and excellence in teaching, learning and research. In all of our activities, be it teaching, research or outreach, we aim to operate with a forward-thinking, results-oriented and community-responsive approach – in per-suit of realizing our vision of becoming a premier institution in science and technology.
Diploma in Wood Industries is a 3-year or six (6) semester programme with each semester consisting of sixteen weeks. In addition to theoretical and laboratory work, students are also required to undergo practical training at various wood-based industries. This is to enable students to integrate the academic principles that they have learned with actual industrial practice and to familiarise them with the working environment.

THIS IS SOME OUR BACKGROUND

Diploma in Wood was established in 1973 under the Faculty of Applied Science. It was the one and only Diploma Program in Malaysia during that time. In the beginning, this course was accomplished in Shah Alam. Then for some infrastructure reason, this course was transfer to UiTM Pahang branch Jengka, which provide a better infrastructure facilities and more space that suitable for this course studies environment. This transfer was accomplished in 1995.

DIPLOMA IN WOOD INDUSTRY (AS117)

Timber Industry Diploma offered in UiTM Pahang is one of six programs  semesters or three years. In addition to the theoretical study and laboratory work in  universities, students are also required to undergo Practical Training in agro-based industries timber. This is to enable students to integrate academic principles
they have learned to actual industry practices and also familiarize themselves with the work environment.
Graduates can also pursue their studies at degree level in related fields to meet the needs of the current workforce.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Graduates of this program have the scope of a career in the food industry or other related, in which:

-Assistant Laboratory Manager
-Entrepreneur
